The devil lurks presents THE GATE OF HELL AND HER

CHAPTER 2: THE HUNTER AND THE PREY

She saw her girl’s fingers floating in the soup. She confirmed it as one of the fingers had a ring which she gifted her daughter on her birthday. Without thinking, she stepped in that massive pot which was on the flame in the search of the remaining body. It was looking as the temperature was not affecting her.

When the man came at the home, he saw the lady s boiled body in the yard. Her skin become so soft that one could easily peel of that. He cried as hell and later, never found.

But every year, on that day he comes in the village with a big soup pot in his hand asking for the rest of the body of his kids. Probably, he is dead now and is known as ‘Half-dead man’ too.

So, how was it?” Dai said, “hmm. But it could have been better. If the woman killed the whole village by giving poison and also killed her family and pretended as if the village and it’s people are normal but when she realized, she shifted to another village to pretend with her fake life.” Grandmother smiled and said, “you are just like your mom. I wish…” . Dai stood up and said, “good night!” as if she wanted to ignore the topics related to her mother.

She went to her room and saw the manual of rules lying on the desk. She thought to look after it. So, she grabbed it and started reading it laying on her bed. The manual was as follows:-

You are very welcomed to tengoku senior high school, teesang japan. It’s our pleasure to have you as our student. Its our duty to save you as maybe you can be the chosen one but before that, you ll need to follow some instructions.

• Don’t wear any perfume, lip balm etc or anything made up of aoi flower.

• Try not to be religious as it is against our school and education except the real one.

• You are not supposed to cut, give or flesh your blood in the school.

• Do not bring aoi flower in school.

• Stay away from the local wild animals.

• You are not supposed to leave the school in any circumstances.

• Do not feed wild animals.

• Don’t try to go outside your home.

• Follow the instructions strictly given by the premises.

• In any queries, you can ask your home teacher.

• Remember, your existence on this earth may not be worth it but your end will surely be.

• Be ready for the hunter

This manual of rules was weird and was probably looking like some low grade manga but she ignored it and slept. In school, she always used to stare those with red tie cards but never made to ask them. So she asked nina to which nina replied, “oh that. That is an age card. It means from how long you are in this school which helps teachers to teach you and make you understood. Most of times, red tie cards ones are privileged due to this.”

Like that, the days started passing and passing with new stories every day. She used to send letter to nisagi as she was the only with whom she can express her feelings truly. She also wrote letters for father but never got confidence to post those. Slowly, she started sharing a small but beautiful bond with nina and her grandmother.

Nobody knew how the session was passing rapidly and two months were already gone with dai and the time came of final exams. Though dai was thought as a person not interested in studies, she played very well in preparing for the exams. She did what she could have paid for the exams and finally, the exams were over and they were soon going to be promoted to next class.

Before the opening of next session, a trip was organized by the school premises to an unknown hill treck. Dai was not interested in this trip and also, she cannot afford it so she said to miss asuki that she is not going to the trip. But to her surprise, Miss asuki told her that dai s trip was free of cost. Not only of her but of all the students having red tie card but still she didn’t want to go to the trip. But after insisted by Miss asuki, she decided to change her plan.

The trip was from 29 December to 2 January. The place was somewhere in the forest attached to the mumie no village. only their class and other sections were going. There were three teachers going on the trip including miss asuki.

The day came when they were going for the trip. Grandmother packed the lunch for her and also packed some essentials, snacks etc for the journey. The students gathered in the school premises and headed towards the hill in the buses. Everything was fine but the weather was changing the things and everyone could see lighting and few droplets of rain.

Due to sudden turn of the weather, they were obliged to stay at ground camp for that night. Dai started feeling dizzy but she kept a hold on her. It was normal for her as it was hard for her to travel even if it is a small distance. When they reach the base ground, they started making there tents. She was going to share the tent with another girl, chaikiyo. Chaikiyo was from another section. Only thing common between dai and chaikiyo was that both had red tie cards.

After having dinner they were said to go to tents but after sometime, a girl came into their tent and said everyone will need to come at base area. When chaikiyo asked her, “what it is about?” the girl replied, “ we are going to play the hunter game”. Chaikiyo got excited and said, “Lets go, dai! It would be fun.” But dai replied, “uhh! I can’t. I mean I m not feeling well.” Chaikiyo sighed and said, “ahh! Come on! We have played this game before. It would be fun”

Before dai could have said something, miss asuki entered their tent and asked chaikiyo to go to the base camp. Miss asuki came near dai, hold her hand and said, “I know, its hard to get involved in something new, to get out the comfort. I will not force you because I don’t want to do anything which makes you uncomfortable. But I would suggest that I m not asking you change but I m asking you to give them a chance. The final decision is all yours.” After saying this, she went outside the tent.

Though Dai didn't want to go outside, she thought to join them because she don't want to hurt miss asuki's feelings. So she went outside where everyone was gathered. Miss asuki smiled when dai came in front. So, miss asuki started telling the rules and said, "So, everyone who are gathered, you might be familiar with the game which we are going to play today but the who don't know anything about it. Let me explain it to you. The rules are simple.

There is going to be a hunter who is going to chase you and kill you, relax not in real but with a toy axe. There is a fixed boundary till where you can go. But here comes a twist, you ll need to be blind folded and the hunter will also be blindfolded." There a boy interrupted and said, "so, how the hunter will hunt?" To which miss asuki replied, "a hunter knows the smell of its prey. This makes the game more interesting. Also, you all must wear your tie cards as it will help us to count the score at last. So, I m going to be the hunter first. Come on, Take your blind folders from me."

After giving the blind folders to the students, miss asuki came with an axe from her tent which was looking dead real but there was nothing left except trusting her and her words.
